Rearranged Sidebar

Carved in the ice by TheMP on 12th of March, 2007

Not exactly a thrilling update. Just changed the sidebar a bit to make it a bit neater. I added current times for Brisbane and New York for reference. I do tend to spend a bit of time in both areas.

Nothing else has really been happening. Mostly been busy with university. I already have assignments lined up.

Update to previous post

Carved in the ice by TheMP on 10th of March, 2007

After a bit of searching and realizing the admin screen for editting templates was not the same as they were featuring in their tour, I came to the conclusion that blogger decided that my newly created blog would still use the old system for some ridiculous reason. So I built another blog, this time hosted on blogspot and indeed, yes, my theory was correct. That is how they bribe people to host on their servers and eat your brains.

So I recreated the blog and annoyingly found out that I can’t use my header image because it yells at me. (It uses javascript and their system doesn’t like the format that it is in. Something about XML. And here I thought I was using HTML! Stupid blogger, don’t XML everything!) But you know what, I give up. Too much time is wasted on that forsaken website. No, I have absolutely no intention in keeping it going after university is over. If you want to see what I’m up to, RSS feed this site or friend me on Livejournal. Blogger is sickening.

New Blog

Oh Blogger…

Carved in the ice by TheMP on 10th of March, 2007

We’ve been asked to create a blog for our Pre-production class as a bit of a learning journal type thing using none other than blogger. Now I used to use blogger years ago when there weren’t many blogging sites around. I detest it with all my heart. It still has the same damn interface, which is yes, easy to setup, but it takes just as long to make changes. Take for instance adding a link. The damn site still requires you to go into the template HTML configuration to add a simple link. Wordpress on the other hand, while it takes much longer to set up, has a very simple process of adding links. If you go the standard way, it’s as easy as point, click, paste, done. None of that scrolling through piles of HTML to make a simple change. As you can tell I’ve become a Wordpress fan.

Anyway, I’m hosting the blog on my domain. I know, how terrible of me. Why did I? Well for many reasons people may not understand. First off I know all images will be linked internally and I will still have absolute control over them. Second off I don’t have to rely on stupid blogspot. I have always detested free hosting for their necessity to screw you over slowly and painfully. It is why I got my own domain in the first place. Might as well use it, ne?

Visual Diary

Full Swing

Carved in the ice by TheMP on 4th of March, 2007

University has started up again and is at full swing already. I already know that Pre-production and CGI 1 will be consuming most of my free time. Hopefully I will get a chance to post some of my work up on the Gallery. I hope to produce some interesting stuff.

Speaking of University, the new building for the Film School is… interesting. I don’t exactly agree with the unfinished look of the entraceway. Also the people who designed the rooms weren’t too bright. They seem to think that it would be good to place a window without blinds on a wall across from two, beautiful plasma screens. Hopefully the window will be covered soon.

Other than university, nothing else has been happening. I did upgrade Wordpress to 2.1.2, but it’s only a small update.

If anyone has any suggestions of what else they’d like to see on the site, let me know.
